Hundreds of Chicago Students Walk Out of Standardized Test | Common Dreams

Community organizing is a powerful tool. I definitely believe that the work of organizers will bring drastic change to this world! Sometimes it starts as young people standing up for themselves when no one expects them to.

In Spain, Having a Job Doesn’t Guarantee a Paycheck (by TheNewYorkTimes)

Having spent three months in Spain in 2012, I found everything regarding it’s economic and social crisis to be so intriguing. The quality of life still seems so high, but the challenges are so deeply ingrained. People are just trying to live, but the nation is afflicted with profound challenges.

Found this video and thought that it captured the way the economy is affecting families.

"History doesn’t always honor your story…Create for yourself."
When looking through pictures that I had taken this year, this photo kept popping up in mind as a great canvas to work off of. I constantly think of the stories that are untold in this world and how dominant histories can be carefully packaged off of these abridged realities. When examining power and how it acts both for and against us, it’s wondrous how some histories are revered while others are overlooked and scoffed at.
The picture in it’s original form was taken in a Brooklyn subway while I was on the way home one night. I was walking by it and literally stopped for more than a minute to look at the entire wall. There was something about the tiled artwork that caught my eye and compelled me to take a picture. I’m glad that I did.

The purpose of language isn’t whether or not you have something correct…It’s about your power to communicate.
